Full Job Description

We have an exiting opportunity for an experienced dietitian to set up and establish a clinically effective and evidenced based dietetic service in the specialist area of oncology at Sherwood Forest Hospitals.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual with experience in advanced nutritional assessment and support who has good organisational, communication and team working skills. You will develop a service which provides outstanding dietetic support to cancer patients at a variety of stages along the cancer pathway and support us in the development of a prehabilitation service.

The post is based at Kings Mill Hospital, however you may be required to drive to our other hospital sites.

Our department supports dietetic student training from Nottingham and Sheffield, therefore you will be required to support student training.

  • Improve assessment and referral process for the patient with cancer needing nutritional input

  • Support patient and carers to improve knowledge on nutrition and hydration and the link to quality of life, outcomes and recovery

  • Take part in health and wellbeing events and activities

  • Provide specialist dietetic consultations for patients and carers to help manage side effects and prevent worsening malnutrition.

  • Develop an education package for other members of the MDT on nutritional screening and first line advise for nutritional complications

  • Undertake audits to evaluate services provision, implement improvement plans. Report to Macmillan and trust stakeholders
