Full Job Description

  • Assist with all aspects of production predominantly the production of fresh sausage and steak canadiann.

  • Assist with goods storage, goods rotation, packing, labeling, product receipt and dispatch.

  • Assist with cleaning of all machinery and areas.

    NB: Previous experience in using a sausage rex machine or mincers is not essential but would be viewed as advantageous., The plant is a busy, fast paced environment and the ideal candidate will need to have a good work ethic, be hands on, work smart, able to get your head down, sleeves rolled up, get stuck in and work at a good pace.


  • You will need to be able and comfortable working in a refrigerated cold room environment (all necessary PPE will be provided).

    You must be of a good physical state as the role involves heavy physical lifting and candidates must be able to lift minimum 25kg+.

    Must be punctual, reliable & trustworthy.

    Ability to plan and organise own workload and show initiative.

    Must have a real can do attitude and have an eagerness to learn.

    Involves the handling of various meat cuts including Pork, Beef & Poultry.

    Due to our ongoing expansion a fantastic opportunity as arisen for an experienced production operative to join a purpose built, well renowned, long-established family owned sausage manufacturing plant in Accrington.

    Kennedys butchery specialises in the manufacture of fresh sausage and Steak Canadiann and have won countless awards for our products with our sausage a recent finalist in "Best of Britain"

    You will be required to work along side our production team and help in all aspects of general production and cleaning. The role involves the use of various types of machinery (All training will be provided) and that all products are produced and packed to a high standard and that all machinery is washed and cleaned at the end of production.

    Job Pay, Hours and Start, Finish Times

    42.5 Paid hours per week

    £532week - Annual salary of £27,600 per year.

    The role is 5 days per week - Working Mon to Friday.

    Start Time 6am.

    Finish Time 3pm.

    (8.5 paid hours per day with a 30 min unpaid break each day)

    Total of 45 hours per week of which 42.5 hours are paid with 30 mins each day unpaid break.

    28 days Holiday in total over a 12 month period which includes the statutory bank hols.

    (NB: the job on minimum occasion may need you to work on a certain bank holiday or on a weekend day but only on very limited occasions. A day will be given back when this is the case)
