Full Job Description

· Work as part of the Oakfield Team to provide a caring and stimulating environment within which each individual is able to fulfil their own potential.

· Encourage and develop the people we support skills and independence in all walks as life.

· Help and encourage the people we support to prepare snacks and drinks.

· Help and encourage the people we support to undertake a range of household tasks such as cleaning, washing, ironing in order to promote independence and life skills as appropriate to night shifts.

· Encourage them to maintain individual personal and hygiene needs as described in their care plans whilst ensuring any special needs or requirements are met.

· Encourage and facilitate participation in social activities as appropriate to night shift.

· Conduct regular checks on the people we support throughout the night, record all night activities and refer any issues or concerns to the Shift Leader/Deputy to ensure the people we support the care appropriate to their assessed needs.

· Record all activities and observations on the internal CMS System.

· Undertake cleaning duties throughout the home.

· Ensure laundry is done during the shift.

· Carry out all duties in a professional and courteous manner with an understanding of the impact of one's actions and attitudes upon the people we support, colleagues, relatives and visitors to Oakfield premises.

· Follow instructions and adhere to care plans and organisational policies in order to provide a high standard of personalised care in line with CQC Essential Standards for all Oakfield Community residents.

· Demonstrate awareness and understanding of equal opportunities and other people's behavioural, physical, social and welfare needs.

· Ensure that reasonable care is always taken for the health, safety and welfare of yourself and other persons, and to comply with the legislation, policies and procedures relating to health and safety, staff training and supervision within the organisation.

· Use a range of lifting and transporting equipment as necessary to help the people we support who limited mobility in accordance with appropriate training, policies and procedures.

· Fully participate in and contribute to a care team.

· Carry out any other duties which fall within the broad spirit, scope and purpose of this job description and which are commensurate with the skills level of the post.

This post will require satisfactory clearance of an enhanced disclosure and barring service certificate.

Be literate and numerate, having attained a good level of education.

Undertake all mandatory training.

Willingness to work towards NVQ 3 in Care within 2 years.

Desirable Criteria:

NVQ level 2 in Care.

NVQ level 3 in Care.

Experience and Knowledge

Essential Criteria:

Knowledge of basic health, safety and hygiene standards.

Knowledge of CQC Essential Standards.

Evidence of competence in and a commitment to personal and professional development.

Record activities and data relating to residents and tenants.

Desirable Criteria:

Previous experience of working with people with learning disabilities.

Competence in administering of medicines.

Ability and Skills

Essential Criteria:

Good level of interpersonal and communication skills.

The ability to deal with people of all temperaments.

The ability to work to a night routine.

Work as a member of a team.

Able to use your initiative, to be creative and think 'outside of the box'.

To be physically able to attend to all residents and tenants needs.

The ability to follow instructions, procedures and guidelines.

Be able to maintain a professional approach always.

To feel confident in communicating issues or concerns.

Work flexible.

Desirable Criteria:

Tolerant, adaptable and flexible.

Be able to relate well to a wide range of people of differing abilities.

Hold a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle.

Act as keyworker to a named residents and tenants.

Work with the minimum of supervision., Ability to demonstrate awareness and understanding of equal opportunities and other peoples' behaviour, physical, social and welfare needs.

    Location: Please note this role is based over two sites: Oakfield Easton Maudit NN29 7NR, Oakfield Yardley Hastings NN7 1EL.

    Salary: £11.91-£12.33 dependent on Qualifications/Experience.
