3D Workshop Technician

22.2 hours per week (Monday to Wednesday which may be flexible)

£23,630 - £25,656 per annum pro rata

City College Norwich is seeking a 3D Workshop Support Technician to join their highly skilled and inclusive 3D Workshop team. In this role, you will provide technical expertise, guidance, and support in both traditional and digital making. Your responsibilities will include supporting student learning, providing training and instruction, and maintaining the 3D Workshop facilities. Additionally, you will collaborate with team members, contribute to the planning of exhibitions and events, and engage in continuous personal and professional development. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the student experience and create a safe and accessible environment within the 3D Workshops at CNN.

The ideal candidate for the 3D Workshop Support Technician position should possess strong technical skills in working with materials such as wood, metal, and plastics to craft models. They should demonstrate a keen interest in facilitating student learning and contributing to their creative and technical growth. Key qualifications and proficiencies include expertise in woodworking, metalworking, and plastics, along with effective problem-solving abilities and research skills. Additionally, a robust skill set in building models of various scales using wood, metal, and plastics processes is highly desirable. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are essential. The candidate should exhibit solid organisational and time management capabilities, a thorough understanding of safety protocols, and a dedication to continuous learning.

The successful candidate will also create risk assessments and COSHH (training will be provided), ensuring high Health & Safety standards are met.

You will be line managed by one of our two Technician Team Leaders, who look after Technicians and Technical Supervisors that work across a wide range of curriculum including Land based, Science, Sport & Leisure, Health & Care, Hair & Beauty, Hospitality & Catering, the Arts, Engineering, and Construction. You may be involved in exciting projects on campus, county-wide or nationally, and there will be opportunities for the right candidate to develop their skills.
