The Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment (SSEE) is creating the new role of Alumni Communications Manager (Sustainability) to build a thriving alumni community who will join us in accelerating the sustainability transition.
The post has been created at an exciting time, as the School is undergoing rapid growth in reach and influence including through one of the most applied-for MSc programmes in Oxford.
The purpose of the role is to build and strengthen relationships between alumni communities (including students, executive education graduates, and senior advisors) and SSEE and create a two-way exchange of information, networking and fundraising opportunities, and real-world impact. We aim to inform, equip and motivate our alumni networks to join us in our mission of supporting enterprise, public and private, to achieve net zero emissions and the sustainable development goals.
The post holder will be responsible for developing an alumni engagement strategy encompassing communication, events and fundraising. They will work closely with colleagues in the Smith School core team, particularly development, communications, events and executive education, and with senior researchers. They will be an active member of relevant School of Geography and the Environment (SoGE)/University committees and networks in order to learn from and share best practice, and ensure co-ordination.

The post holder will have an innovative and 'can-do' approach, and be able to demonstrate broad understanding of the Smith School's mission and the issues on which we work. They will have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience. They will have experience in either alumni relations, fundraising, or strategic communications, including databases and digital media. They will also have a proven ability to communicate academic research authoritatively and persuasively to diverse audiences.
The post can support remote working on a hybrid basis, as well as flexible working patterns.
Applications are particularly welcome and encouraged from women, black, and minority ethnic candidates, who are under-represented in posts in SoGE. SoGE and SSEE are committed to equality and value diversity.

This post is fixed term for 2 years in the first instance.
