Full Job Description

As our Assistant Accountant, you will assist the Finance Manager in the production of accounts for Hills Waste Solutions Ltd & Hills Municipal Collections Ltd as well as maintain cashbook records, fixed asset records and account reconciliations for Hills Municipal Collections Ltd & assisting with this for Hills Waste Solutions Ltd.

Your key responsibilities as our Assistant Accountant will include:

  • Keeping and reconciling cash book records.

  • Prepare and enter nominal ledger journals including cashbook, payroll, depreciation, accruals & prepayments for both companies as required.

  • Maintain up to date reconciliations of ledger accounts for Hills Municipal Collections Ltd.

  • Maintain fixed asset register and balance sheet reconciliations.

  • To raise manual sales invoices as required & cash sales invoices for Hills Waste Solutions Ltd.

  • To raise payments on our banking software.

  • Assist the Finance Manager in ensuring that the company's procedures are followed by staff and suppliers and that continuing improvements are made.

    AAT Qualified or equivalent.

  • Previous experience as an Assistant Accountant.

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (including vlookups & pivot tables)

  • Database query and reporting skills.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Attention to detail and desire to solve problems.

  • High level of integrity and confidentiality.


  • Desirable:
  • Part qualified CIMA/ACCA.

  • Previous experience within the waste industry would be beneficial.
