Full Job Description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join our small, passionate team as a full time, permanent, Castle and Events Steward. This is a varied and exciting role with a focus on events as well as being actively involved in the daily running of the castle as a tourist attraction.

Interacting with our visitors and clients, providing the highest level of customer service and ensuring a memorable visit are all huge parts of this role, therefore all applicants must be confident and enthusiastic and have a passion for history and events.

The Castle and Events Steward will be the main point of contact for our clients on their event day, providing a professional and welcoming service and ensuring that all expectations are met. All applicants will need to demonstrate excellent attention to detail, along with the ability to think on their feet and problem solve. Good strength and stamina are also key as our Stewards are often involved in moving furniture and other manual handling tasks related to events.

During our quieter season you will have the opportunity to get stuck into planning for future events, designing/managing museum displays and generating sales leads.

Key Duties:

· Open and close the Castle, Courtyard and Chapel and ensure displays are clean, well maintained and working correctly.

· Steward the castle and support the team with selling tickets, interacting with visitors and operating the tearooms.

· Steward the castle for private hire events including car parking, moving furniture, tidying, and cleaning.

· Undertake venue viewings with potential clients and host planning meetings with booked clients.

· Work with the team to generate new displays and ideas/activities for school holiday events.

· Maintain a high level of knowledge of the estate.

· Ensure visitor routes in the buildings and park are clean and tidy including litter picking & weeding of castle steps and podium.

· Act as the responsible person to oversee the safety of staff and visitors while on the premises taking further action to call the Castle Manager or medical help if and when required.

· Assist with weekly fire alarm testing, monthly emergency light testing and figures reporting, ensuring records are kept up to date.

· Ensure all event equipment is immaculately presented at all times including aisle carpet, seat cushions, PA equipment and banqueting furniture.

Working hours: 35 hours per week across 4 days during wedding season, 5 days outside of wedding season.
