Full Job Description

The specialist haemostasis unit is a regional diagnostic service supporting Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Rosie Hospitals and Royal Papworth. Externally a referral service supports haematology departments across the whole of the East England region. Approximately a population of 6 million people is served by the referral service.
The specialist haemostasis service also provides a range of highly specialised and complex diagnostic tests to centres throughout the UK and has a major commitment to the support of the TTP national commissioned services, UKHCDO through supporting the comprehensive care centre at CUH. The department provides an out of hours on-call service to cover emergency work., Lead the clinical-laboratory interactions for CUH specialist services serving the East of England region including the specialist commissioned service for TTP, regional thrombophilia service, regional platelet function service and comprehensive care centre (for bleeding disorders)
Develop and sustain consultant level clinical activity through performing clinical consultations, determining the most appropriate diagnostic investigations required and relay those findings to patients for investigation of bleeding disorders
Direct, establish, develop and monitor activities to assure maintenance of full accreditation for the entire specialist service scope of accreditation
Direct Research and Development and Service Improvement initiatives in collaboration with local and regional requirements to develop the service into a leading centre for diagnostic and clinical research in haemostasis and thrombosis
