Full Job Description

We are looking to appoint a School Counsellor to provide a professional and confidential service to children in order to promote emotional health and wellbeing and enable children to overcome barriers to learning and help them deal with the difficulties they may face. The Counselling Service is well established and a highly valued, integral part of the school's provision.

Hours: 28.8 hours per week across 4 days (Term-Time Only, 38 weeks + 5 inset days)

You will:

  • Work well both individually and as part of a team to make a difference to the lives of children

  • Be forward thinking, visionary, and able to work under pressure

  • Be flexible with working arrangements

  • Be able to work on your own initiative to plan and evaluate, managing a varied caseload


  • The ideal candidate will have as a minimum level of qualification a professionally accredited (BACP) Diploma in counselling (or be working towards accreditation). Experience of working as a counsellor within a primary educational setting is essential and Art or Creative Therapies desirable.
