Full Job Description

  • Setting up all necessary equipment and carrying out necessary checks before operating the SMT machinery. Duties include machine setup and operation of screen printing, Pick & Place, reflow and AOI.

  • Assembly of electronic components, sub-assemblies and products in accordance with production build instructions and drawings

  • Manual assembly (solder) of printed circuit board assemblies using both surface mount technology (SMT) and through-hole (PTH)

  • Rework of PCB assemblies soldering to IPC-A-610, IPC-7711/21 & IPC-J-STD-001 standards (class 3) using engineering drawings

  • Assemble prototype and qualification PCBs, working closely with the Design and Development department

  • Stock and kit checking to ensure parts available for build to commence

  • Completion of build and quality checklists ensuring a high degree of build-quality

  • Perform internal pre-test quality checks

  • Maintain that the work area is clean, safe and orderly

    Demonstrable experience in fine detail, surface mount and through hole electronic assembly

  • Experience running a pick and place machine, ideally Mycronic family machine

  • Excellent attention to detail and quality

  • Qualified to IPC-A-610 / IPC-J-STD-001 / IPC-7711/21

  • Ability to work with little supervision

  • Effective oral and written communication skills


  • Additional Skills
  • Experience in the assembly of RF electrical and mechanical equipment would be advantageous

  • Cable and harness assembly in accordance with IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards (class 3)

  • Knowledge of AS9100 and ISO9001 quality standards would be beneficial


  • The successful candidates will need to successfully complete a Baseline Personnel Security Standard and ideally be able to achieve an SC Clearance.
