We are excited to offer the opportunity to join our wonderful school and work with our exceptional students who experience a range of needs including SEMH and ASD. Job role

We are looking for an enthusiastic English specialist to join us on a one year contract from September 2024. The successful candidate will be able to deliver English up to GCSE double award and work with our pupils who have a wide range of ability levels. English has a strong profile in the school from Key Stage 3 through to Key Stage 5 and has been very successful in the transition to the new more challenging curriculum. The opportunity to teach another relevant subject may be available to an interested candidate.

This role would be suitable for both ECTs and experienced teachers. Regardless of experience, the successful candidate will have the ability to embrace the inclusive therapeutic culture and ethos of the school. A strong commitment to raising achievement and standards is required along with an informed and creative approach to curriculum delivery.

About Wilds Lodge School

Wilds Lodge School is an independent 38 week specialist boarding and day provision for boys and girls (girls are accepted as day students only) for students aged between 5 and 19 with social, emotional and mental health difficulties, set in Empingham, Rutland. We have consistently been assessed as outstanding by Ofsted in our education provision and have received the TES' 'Boarding School of the Year' award in recent years. We are an aspirational, exciting and innovative school, with a strong record of developing both students and staff.

We are a friendly school where staff are supportive of each other inside and outside of the classroom. We pride ourselves in ensuring all members of staff including our support staff have access to regular training. All our members of staff attend regular training on child protection; mental health and multi-agency working. All staff access a wide range of training on areas of SEN such as Autism, attachment and ADHD.

Requirements

  • Hold qualified teacher status (QTS) or have recent experience of teaching 11-18 year olds.


  • Have a genuine desire to become part of a committed team of teachers.


  • Have a passion for teaching with the ability to plan & deliver inspiring and creative lessons.


  • Have excellent subject knowledge and depth of understanding


  • To be successful, you will:

  • Be able to inspire, enthuse and motivate students to ensure they achieve their full potential;


  • Be an effective and committed team player with a clear vision for development and sustained improvement


  • Possess humour, energy, flexibility and a positive outlook
