Full Job Description

  • Route and/or Start/Finish Marshal - guiding walkers along the route, ensuring safety of walkers at crossings and junctions. Or supporting the start and handing out water and medals at the finish.

  • Sweep Marshal - following behind final walkers and checking in with route marshals. Liaison with event organisers where necessary.

  • Event Village - helping with arrival and registration, handing out lanyards, t-shirts, and supporting event village activities, e.g. assisting with public engagement stalls/stands.

  • Photographer - capturing action shots to showcase the feel of the event (in multiple locations). Photographers may be required to marshal alongside this role.

    Passion for the cause of Alzheimer's Research UK.

  • People skills; an enjoyment of working with others.

  • An organised team player and good communicator.


    • Route marshals will require a reasonable level of general fitness to walk (unaided) to the furthest point on the route (if required). All volunteer duties are based outside, so you will need to be comfortable in the outdoors and enthusiastic in all weather.,
  • A fun and organised day out with like-minded people, passionate about finding a cure.

  • Understanding of charity sector sporting events and experience to add to your CV.

  • Playing a key part in successful event delivery and a positive participant experience.
