Full Job Description

Responsible for: To provide effective day to day functions and running of the premises through the guidance of the Health, Safety & Facilities Officer.

Specific Responsibilities:

- Carry out a daily routine inspection of the buildings and grounds to identify, record and take appropriate action in respect of repairs, maintenance and improvement under the guidance of the Site Services Manager.

- Ensure the operation of systems relating to: testing and maintenance of fire alarms, security systems, heating, gas, electricity and water under the guidance of the Health, Safety & Facilities Officer.

- Open SWDT at start of working day and secure the premises at close of working day. This includes a period of lone working on each shift, with appropriate measures in place to minimise risk.

- As part of the Site Services team, you will respond (on a ring round system) to emergency call-outs during non-working hours as necessary.

- Carry out day-to-day maintenance of grounds and buildings through a proactive programme of works and job requests.

- Attend regular team meetings as part of the college's Quality Assurance system.

- In the absence of the Health, Safety & Facilities Officer, liaise with on-site contractors as necessary to ensure compliance with regard to Health & Safety, Safeguarding etc.

- Carry out repairs and improvements in respect of internal decoration and external fabric of buildings.

- Ensure that all training facilities, rooms and equipment are appropriately prepared, clean and accessible to meet the needs of commercial clients and tutors.

- To be able to assist in undertaking PAT testing as and when required, training will be given where necessary.

- Keep up-to-date with all Health and Safety requirements (e.g. manual handling, lifting, working at heights) and to undertake repairs within the confines of the role that have been highlighted through SWDT's regular Health & Safety inspections.

- The post holder may be required (with the appropriate notice) to work a rota system which will include shift and weekend working as standard.

- Carry out day to day checks on company vehicles, ensuring they checked for oil, water, fuel tyres and cleanliness. Including safe storage on an evening.

- Collect and distribute staff PPE and work-wear

- Monitoring of the fault reporting and ensure repairs are completed in a timely manner.

- Periodic checks for machine-tools, and equipment safety carried out and recorded.

- Perform first aid as required as part of the site first aid team on a rota basis.

- Any other duties as commensurate with the post.

Candidates for the post of Site Services & Facilities Officer, must possess the following qualities -

Qualifications -

Essential -

  • Safeguarding Level 1 (to be achieved within 6 weeks)

  • Three Day First Aid Course (or willing to work towards this - will be fully funded by the college)

  • On a yearly basis maintaining your First Aid at Work - Certificate (this will be fully funded by the college)

  • Apprenticeship in Property Maintenance (or willing to work towards within 24 months)

    IT qualification

  • Level 2 Equality & Diversity

  • IOSH / NEBOSH accreditation (or willing to work towards)

  • Fork Lift Trained (or willing to work towards)

  • Knowledge or qualification in at least one other discipline
