Full Job Description

Initially, the apprentice will work alongside a lead engineer, learning and developing in the field of security. This is a field based role where you will work on various projects with existing engineers. Though each day will be different, the role will include the installation, maintenance and repair of fire and security systems., Initially the apprentice will work alongside experienced engineers, learning and developing in the field of security.

The qualification you would be studying towards is the Fire Emergency Security Systems Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard.

Skills for Security will deliver the apprenticeship training in block release at their Watford Centre. You will attend centre one week every eight weeks.

You will be required to complete all training tasks allocated during your block release weeks at the training centre and gather any site evidence needed to supplement your studies.

You will be required to complete an annual assessment at the training centre and take part in any additional training courses that the company require you to complete.

The employer will mentor and coach you on the job. You will also shadow, learn and get involved in all aspects of Fire and Security Alarms.

You will be provided with full training on company standards and industry best practices.

The apprenticeship is up to 36 months and therefore, full commitment is required.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Basic awareness of tools would be advantageous.

  • Basic electrical knowledge would be advantageous.

  • Comfortable working at high or low levels, due to the nature of the role.

  • Willingness to learn, trustworthy and proactive.
