Full Job Description

Working between the Day Unit/Assessment Area and the Cath Labs helping to care for both stable elective patients and acutely ill patients requiring emergency treatment. In the Cath Lab you will be trained to help work in circulating capacity for a variety of procedures as well as manage stock and input data to the procedural database., The unit operates Monday-Friday. As a full time band 3 Nursing Assistant you would work four 10 hour shifts per week. These shifts will vary between earlies and lates., Helping to care for both stable elective patients and acutely ill patients requiring emergency treatment. In the Day Unit / Assessment area you will be helping to look after a small caseload of patients pre and post procedure, under supervision of a registered nurse. You will be trained to perform, report and document patients' vital signs observations, blood glucose measurements as well as wound and peripheral circulation assessments; help provide food and drink for the patients; help patients with their hygiene needs and getting them ready for their procedures. In the Cath Lab you will be trained to help work in circulating capacity for a variety of procedures as well as manage stock and input data to the procedural database.

We are looking for dynamic, enthusiastic and motivated band 3 Nursing Assistants to complement our friendly multidisciplinary team. Within the area patients undergo a wide variety of cardiac procedures. These include Coronary Angiography/Intervention, Pacemaker/ICD implantation, Electrophysiology Studies/Ablations, Structural/Congenital procedures and Trans-Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI). We also perform nurse led Cardioversions, Transoesophageal Echoes, and Drug Challenges.

  • Previous experience in cathlab or theatre environment.
