Full Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse / Primary Care Nurse to join the team at HMP Huntercombe, a male, foreign national prison based near Henley-on-Thames.
Within this role, you'll be an integral part of the healthcare team. You could be involved in anything from developing and leading clinics, undertaking examinations and tests as well as answering emergency bells and potentially being the first person to attend an emergency. Within this role, you will work within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a nurse led service and prevent hospital admissions.

We are looking for caring, compassionate but also driven professionals who can help us drive our vision for a fair and inclusive healthcare access to all.
Our new Primary Care Nurse will:

  • Be a registered (adult) Nurse with a current NMC Pin

  • Have relevant post qualification experience

  • Be up to date with their Continued Professional Development (CPD)

  • Have a non judgemental and compassionate approach, Enhanced Clinical Practitioner L6 or L7

  • Advanced Clinical Practitioner L7 (includes NMP)


  • In this role, I can really enhance my leadership skills- both clinical and non-clinical- as well as my managerial skills, I can engage with other clinicians to lead by example, and inspire and motivate other clinicians. I'm thriving in this role and am really enjoying it.

    This position is full time, you'll receive an annual salary up to £49,770 per annum - depending on experience.

  • Hours:
    Healthcare is delivered Monday - Friday, between 07:45 - 20:00, and we can offer flexible shifts within these times. You will work 37.5 hours per week, and we can discuss shifts at interview.

    As our new Primary Care Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:
  • Provide outstanding quality based care to all patients

  • Deliver personalised, non judgemental care, based on patient feedback

  • Undertake medication rounds

  • Dispense controlled medication

  • Attend emergency response situations

  • Deliver nurse led clinics to your patient group
