Full Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Programme Coach to join our L&D team based at our Burnley Office.

The responsibilities of this role is to support a cohort of apprentices in their learning journey, ensuring they progress in and complete their apprenticeship, professional qualifications and functional skills timely. As a Programme Coach you will stretch and challenge learners to achieve their full potential by contributing to programme design, managing quality, assessing work, delivering training, providing feedback and supporting line managers.

Role objectives:

  • Manage a caseload of 20-30 apprentices across multiple cohorts to achieve set targets including maintaining expected progress and completing within their planned duration.

  • Carrying out monthly support to apprentices and adapting your approach to meet their individual learning needs.

  • Be committed to continuous personal development and must log development.

  • Undertaking a thorough initial assessment as part of the apprentices' induction, including a line manager induction.

  • Carry out observations, professional discussions, assess and mark assessments.

  • Be a coach to the apprentices providing quality feedback.

  • Ensure all work is recorded accurately using our E-Portfolio system OneFile.

  • Provide a high level of support to both apprentices and line managers to ensure their engagement, stretch and challenge throughout the programme.

  • Conduct robust progress reviews to ensure off the job training is logged and up to date and support the apprentices' skills and career development.


  • Support in the development of the apprenticeship programme to ensure that it is engaging and stimulating, including planning of the scheme of learning, writing of course materials, delivering workshops and participating in quality improvement and standardisation activities to drive quality.

  • Proactively monitoring, evaluating, and driving improvement in the quality and effectiveness of your caseload.

  • Other requirements could include;

  • Driving license

    Proven experience of training/assessing others in the workplace.

  • Must be highly organised with exceptional attention to detail and time management skills

  • Has good IT skills.

  • Proven experience of being an excellent communicator and is able to deliver classroom training.

  • Proactive approach to meeting targets with the ability to problem solve

  • Proven ability to be flexible and adaptable to managing challenging situations and conversations


  • Desirable Requirements
  • Hold a minimum of GCSE C/4 or Functional skills level 2 in English and Maths

  • Holds an assessor's qualification; TAQA L3/CAVA L3/equivalent

  • Has some knowledge and experience of managing quality or holds an IQA L4 or equivalent qualification

  • Has some knowledge and experience of teaching in the skill sector. May hols aL5 qualification in E&T L5/AET L5/PGCE or equivalent qualification

  • Basic knowledge of ESFA apprenticeship funding rules

  • Some experience of working within an Ofsted regulated environment

  • Has some knowledge and experience of delivering Functional Skills qualifications

  • Has some knowledge and experience of working on a sales, warehousing or logistics environment
