Rail Loading Supervisor

A vacancy has arisen for a Rail Loading Supervisor to join our team within our new Operations and cleaning of a Biomass handling & storage facility contract at the Port of Tyne.

Hargreaves Industrial Services provide an operations, and cleaning service to our client at the Port of Tyne Biomass handling facility.

We are responsible for the safe movements and handling of Biomass following discharge from vessels and the dispatch of loaded rail wagons within the Port.

The role briefly encompasses the following duties: -

Responsible for safe and efficient deployment of all operational personnel.

Ability to collate all relevant information to record and submit in a timely manner, Shift reports, running routes, standard reports, and train loading information. (Ensuring information is accurate)

Ability to work alongside the team to support when required.

• Operating plant & equipment to allow seamless discharge, storage, monitoring and reloading/moving of biomass wood pellets.


Ensuring Job cards are suitable for the work to be carried out and that individuals understand the works to be carried out under the Work Order Card and associated Risk Assessment and Method Statement.

Constantly review tasks and Review Risk assessments, Generate Risk assessments if required

Liaising with the Port teams

• Planning and executing operational activities to ensure KPI's are achieved.


• Ability to make decisions and deal with unplanned events.


• Evaluation and closing out Work Order Cards plus the recording of all information.


• Raising defects.


Operate site Vehicles and to complete relevant documentation.

Carry out site audits.

Inspection and monitoring of site ensuring Health and Safety procedures are being adhered to.

Continually look for ways to improve service.

Carry out inductions with contractors and visitors

Communication with Supervisors, Site Manager/Health & Safety Manager and the client representatives regarding any incidents., Materials Handling expertise, offering efficient and optimal solutions for all bulk handling requirements

Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance and Engineering

Operation and Maintenance of Material Handling Plants

Experience of supervising & managing teams.

COMPEX certificate (Desirable)

Knowledge of Plant (Especially working within ATEX zones)
