If so, we have a fantastic opportunity with a world leading RF and Communications Consultancy who service a wide range of clients and industry sectors including Defense, Aerospace, Intelligence and Space.

A bit about us:

Our client is a leading designer and supplier of sate of the art RF Filters and Communication Tools with a global footprint and a range of sister companies throughout the US. Working within the York based Engineering team, you will be taking an active role in the development of the latest RF products. This will include a range of activities from customer quotations for new products/solutions through design to prototype development of RF subsystems. All with a mind to maintaining quality, cost, safety, reliability, timeliness, and performance.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Support the Sales Team in the timely generation of technical quotations for new solutions, including provision of design feasibility feedback, preliminary costings, generation of product specifications or compliance matrices to customer specifications.

  • Completes product research, analysis and input into engineering calculations, design and testing. This may include stress testing, software modelling and optimisation and product usability to meet Company and customer standards and requirements.

  • Using the latest RF/Microwave modelling tools, including CST, microwave office and Genesys, lead in the production of designs in line with specification expectations working with the mechanical team and/or a wider audience, production team, to deliver both the electrical performance and within the agreed mechanical requirements. All to an agreed timeline.

  • Taking the lead to produce documentation to support and attend any project reviews in line with customer requirements. These may include for example, specific design review presentations, risk registers, environmental stress screening procedures, thermal calculations, qualification test procedures and more.

  • Develop designs to a position of handing over to the production engineer, supporting thereafter to help with creating a solution that is manufacturable and repeatable for the production team. Analyse and provide route cause analysis and solutions to identified issues and/or risks.

  • Attend and contribute to design for manufacturing reviews with Production colleagues enabling accurate, timely knowledge sharing and problem resolution.

  • Positively develop and maintain other department and value stream relationships to support overall site delivery.

  • Proactively contribute to delivering and communicating the Engineering Technology Roadmap and KPIs.

  • Drive a continuous improvement ethos through own actions and contributions, maintaining and improving service delivery.

  • Deputise for other members of the team in agreed responsibilities.

  • Positively present the role of RF Engineer, completing required training activities to meet job role, business requirements and personal competency.

    Essential:

  • Degree or equivalent experience in electronic engineering or comparable discipline.

  • Experience in RF filter and Microwave module design. Supporting circuitry, impedance matching, evaluating performance trade-offs and analysis

  • Knowledge in RF and Microwave technology and techniques: from HF through to 20GHz (extending to 40GHz+) - typically, but not limited to;

  • Passive RF design of; Filters, couplers, power dividers.

  • Active RF design experience of Amplifiers, Switches, Mixers, Detectors, Oscillators, PLL/DDS

  • Software modelling and test activities in engineering design.

  • Contributing to technical reviews.

  • Working in a team environment to complete projects.

  • Researching topics, writing reports and technical instructions, and making recommendations.

  • Analysis and problem solving, meeting defined engineering goals, with a proactive, "can do," attitude.

  • Cross-department and site collaboration to achieve results.


  • Desirable:
  • Production roles within defence engineering environment.

  • Coaching, mentoring, or delivering technical training.

  • Contributing to engineering strategy to build and maintain business performance and growth.

  • Project costing.
