Full Job Description

To assist and support the Head of Risk and Compliance who reports to the Chief Operating Officer, to ensure that the firm and individuals within the firm practice and promote the highest standards of legal and regulatory compliance and behavior, and to deal with regulatory, risk and compliance queries from across the firm. Delivering prompt and pragmatic advice to lawyers, supervising and supporting the more junior members of the team and contributing to the development of the firm's risk and compliance policies and procedures.,

  • Providing advice to the firm on a range of legal, regulatory, risk and compliance queries including anti-money laundering, conflicts of interest, data protection and professional conduct.

  • Acting as an escalation point for anti-money laundering and conflicts issues, liaising with team members, partners and the MLRO.

  • Advising on data protection compliance, including developing and implementing internal policies, procedures and training.

  • Assisting with supplier on boarding, reviewing contracts and due diligence questionnaires.

  • Advising on client engagement letters and terms of business, client policies and questionnaires.

  • Working with legal teams to identify and advise on risk and compliance issues relating to their clients and practice areas.

  • Developing the firm's file audit programme, evaluating audit outcomes and working with lawyers / teams on corrective actions.

  • Drafting and implementing new policies and procedures and updating existing policies.

  • Developing the firm's internal risk and compliance training programme.

  • Helping to identify and prioritise internal risk and compliance issues, contributing to team projects as well as projects across the firm which require risk and compliance input.

  • Drafting reports to senior management on risk and compliance issues.

  • Keeping up to date with legal and regulatory compliance and communicating updates to the team, senior management and the firm.

    Qualified lawyer (PQE level flexible depending on the candidate, their experience and expectations) who has either worked in a risk and compliance environment or in private practice looking to move to an internal risk and compliance role.

  • Knowledge of law, regulation and professional standards applicable to a law firm, together with an understanding of compliance and risk issues.

  • Knowledge of data protection and contract law.

  • Experience of developing and implementing best practice standards and procedures desirable.
