Full Job Description

We are seeking to appoint two specialist SEND Teachers to teach Functional Skills English and Maths (Entry Level 1 to Level 2) as well as Employability/Enterprise skills. You will be part of a wider team who educate, safeguard and support neurodiverse students to move on to positive destinations., o QTS or equivalent

o Teaching Experience: 1 year+

o At least one year's experience of teaching young people with SEND - preferably young people with Communication and Interaction needs (ASD) . We welcome applications from those practitioners who have a therapeutic background.

o Digitally competant

o Subject to enhanced DBS checks / barred checks

As a form tutor, you'll be responsible for delivering high needs study programmes and for engaging and ensuring the progress of our SEND students. Small class sizes ensure groups will be around 8-10 students with a high level of specialist teaching support.

Individual planning to meet our students needs is essential.

You will teach and lead on connecting locally for a rich and diverse learning experience. You will be a part of creating an alternative approach to education and support additional/high needs routes to wellbeing, engagement and employment.

Skills and abilities we're looking for in our Specialist SEND Tutor:

- Specialist knowledge of learning disabilities and conditions such as ASD, ADHD and PDA.

- Ability to provide engaging and informative lessons that motivate students with clear expertise, professionalism, and enthusiasm

- Organised individuals with digital proficiency

- Maintains high expectations and aspirations for both students and oneself

- Committed to innovative and engaging curriculum delivery methods

- Driven to ensure the best possible outcomes for all students

- Creative and flexible approach to designing education interventions.

- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with young people and their families.

- The ability to build resilience in others by displaying a calm and balanced approach to challenging situations.

- Willing to prepare and engage students with a range of physical activities.
- Confident with using a range of applications to record and report progress.

- Professional and diligent with a strong commitment to safeguarding.

We also welcome interest from those who have recently completed research within education, mental health or social work fields to ensure we have a wealth of professionals and academics who can support our need to remain current in this type of work.

The Transitions Education Hub offers high needs study programmes for students aged 14+ who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and require a specialist educational setting. We pride ourselves on our SEND experience and have worked in ASD Special Schools, Local Authority SEND services and SEND charitable organisations for the past 15+ years. We are passionate about helping young people to achieve their goals and aspirations and are continually improving and adapting our offer using feedback from students and their families.

£140 - £165 a day - Permanent, Part-time, Full-time, We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced SEND Teacher to join our team and help us deliver on our promise to help SEND young people and their families within Middlesbrough. You will join us on a Part-time or Full-time basis, permanent and will receive a competitive salary., o Monday to Friday 8.30 - 3.30
