Full Job Description

We are a well established, small business, based near Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk. We principally design and install heating and control systems within bespoke Victorian glasshouses. Whilst based in East Anglia, our work is nationwide and, on occasion, overseas.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Projects Engineer

You'll have an engineering background and an appreciation of aesthetics. You'll enjoy designing projects and taking them through from start to finish.

While our office is near Bury St Edmunds, you'll spend around 3 days a week travelling to sites nationwide, liaising with customers, installers, and the office team.

Above all we are looking for somebody who loves good design, enjoys building things and can help the business grow to the next level - and wants to be part of a team to make that happen.

It is likely that you will like gardens, architecture, and travel.

PROJECTS ENGINEER - OUTLINE OF ROLE

Interpret customers' requirements and define solutions.

Create specifications and prepare costings and quotes.

Travel to sites to meet customers and site teams.

Maintain communications and ensure sites are ready for installation.

Undertake project handover on completion of works

Ensure any project variations are correctly instructed, costed, actioned

Manage multiple projects to meet budget and deadline

Strong practical skills in combination with a degree or HND in mechanical engineering, agricultural engineering, heating engineering or similar discipline.

Be happy to be a 'hands on' part of a small and enthusiastic team where each member contributes and takes pride in the success of the business.

Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal - and the ability to work with all ages and people types

Be confident in operating a sales process and understand what makes a successful project

Good understanding of electrical, heating and building works

Be well organised - you'll need to keep detailed notes & photographs of projects and chair review meetings to learn lessons and aid future development

Willing to travel and stay away from home

Clean driving licence. Experience of towing an advantage.

Computer literate. CAD aware an advantage.

Want to work to a high standard and ensure health and safety requirements are met.

Ability to work hard and independently, to be self motivated and multi-task, whilst enjoying the day.

Up to £28,000 a year - Permanent, Full-time
