Your new role
Are you a dynamic and driven Project Manager looking for your next challenging role? National Highways have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to join the Regional Investment Programme (RIP) within the Major Projects (MP) directorate.
This role will be part of our Northern Delivery team and can be based at either our Manchester or Leeds locations and operates on a hybrid model of 40% in the office or on site and the rest of the week working from home.
Within this role, you'll be part of a multidisciplinary core team that will plan and deliver the contract strategy, procurement, transition, and mobilisation of the delivery phase of a major project. Further to this you will support and coach other Project Management individuals.
What you'll be leading on
+ Working with senior leaders to ensure a full understanding of the project's objectives, agree strategies to achieve them and to deliver within the approved budget, programme and quality standards.
+ Designing and implementing project and procurement plans, high quality baseline management products, and timely and accurate reports to ensure that project objectives are delivered on safely, time and are appropriately resourced.
+ Supporting development of the project's Business Case, including working across National Highways directorates and Subject Matter Advisors to ensure timely approval.
+ Management of project budget, schedule and risk. You will identify and evaluate emerging risks, issues, opportunities. dependencies and constraints associated with the project, escalating where appropriate and developing solutions to overcome or capture them.
+ Managing the performance of delivery partners and expert consultancy support, setting clear expectations for health and safety management, time and cost, and taking appropriate remedial action where necessary.
+ Managing, supporting and motivating the team of Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers and workstream specialists and supporting the personal development of direct reports and early talent., "A leading, intelligent, commercially astute major projects client organisation. Responsible for the initiation and delivery of national and regional road infrastructure asset investments, that safely deliver important outcomes for our customer and stakeholders."
RIP is one of the programmes within National Highways Major Projects Directorate. Infrastructure is the foundation upon which the economy is built. Government is focused on improving infrastructure in the UK to support the growing needs of the economy and to improve opportunities for people across the country. In RIP we represent National Highways interests in dealing with the safety, customer and operational impacts of major infrastructure projects delivered by other public and private sector developers of National significance.

+ Experience of managing large-scale and/or complex projects during their development and delivery in particular that are Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects that involve a Development Consent Order
+ Proven ability to build and maintain successful relationships with key stakeholders, and evidence of your ability to influence positive outcomes
+ Experience of managing health and safety requirements in a complex project environment
+ Experience of working collaboratively to lead and develop a team of people across organisations.
+ Site experience and a willingness to drive safe, efficient delivery in a collaborative manner.
+ Holds or able to attain a certified project or programme management qualification such as Association of Project Managers' Practitioner Qualification or be a member of Association of Project Managers or appropriate professional body or a willingness and commitment to attain.
