Full Job Description

Marshall Slingsby Advanced Composites is based in Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire, where it produces complex composite structures that are predominantly used to manufacture vital parts on ships, submarines and aircraft.

Main aspects of the role will include:

  • Support Business Development by reviewing requests for quotations and contracts to ensure they fulfil all customer and regulatory Requirements.

  • Attend and actively engage in project related meetings in order to identify and advise on any potential quality related issues and to ensure that quality requirements and regulations are considered.

  • Ensure that all management system documentation raised complies with regulatory, customer and management system requirements.

  • Produce and maintain Quality Plans for new projects whenever a contract stipulates the requirement, and / or as requested by the Head of Quality.

  • Identify project-specific audit requirements (both internal and supplier / subcontractor) and capture in the audit schedule.

  • Support project non-conformance recovery and closure through defined QMS procedures.

  • Support NCR activities, MRB meetings and customer complaint resolution. Ensuring that root cause is established and containment /corrective actions are completed in a timely manner to resolve any quality deficiencies raised.

  • Liaise with the Customers, Suppliers and subcontractors' representatives on project related quality assurance issues. Conducting visits when required.

  • Identify and present opportunities for improvement, including advising and training of personnel in matters of quality, regulation and industry best practice.

  • To compile and present quality reports and status reports on projects and on specific quality KPIs .

  • Conduct audits (internal and external) to ensure compliance

  • Conducting Customer Investigations and Liaising with customer representatives and assisting production departments with quality matters.

  • Processing applications for the granting and renewal of personnel approvals prior to submission to the Head of Quality

  • Perform Quality Assurance duties as defined by the Head of Quality

    Good level of education

  • Significant experience of working as a Quality Engineer in a manufacturing / aerospace environment

  • Experience of working in an AS9100 and or ISO 9001 environment

  • Good working knowledge and experience of implementation of quality tools and techniques relating to production controls and design assurance (e.g. FMEA)

  • Working knowledge of continuous improvement techniques

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Proactive and pragmatic approach to problem solving

  • Ability to work in both specialist quality and integrated product teams

  • Passionate about quality, has the ability to embed a quality mind-set in others

  • Ideally degree qualified or equivalent in an Engineering-related discipline.

  • Ideally a Member of the Chartered Quality Institute.

  • Hold a full UK driving license. Willing to visit Customer/Supplier, ad hoc meetings.
