Our clients seeks an experienced, passionate, and enthusiastic Senior Support Worker to work with them to build a successful, able, and supportive team. This role will allow the successful candidate to mould, drive and develop the Children's Home and take it to outstanding.

The home is a warm and friendly service providing care and support for 3 children between the ages of 7 to 17.

  • As Senior Support Worker, Hereford you will take lead and proactively ensure the provision of safe and stimulating environment.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the young people in care

  • Take a lead and actively participate in the planning and delivery of opportunities for the educational, recreational, and vocational development of the young people.

  • Provide support in training and development of all Care Practitioners and Assistant Care Practitioners.

  • Proactively address the challenging behavioural needs presented by the children and young people.

  • Oversee, supervise and be actively involved in the Key Working and Case Management of children and young people.

  • Take an active role in the risk assessment and risk management of children and young people.

  • Take a lead in the promotion of the safeguarding of children and young people in a safe living and learning environment.

  • Support the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager in maintaining and where necessary assist in the development of robust quality assurance, audit systems, policy, procedure and guidance.

  • Contribute to individual care and intervention plans

  • There may be times when you will need to use physical interventions (training provided) , in line with established guidelines and procedures

  • To follow, contribute to and develop a culture within the home that puts children at the centre of all that you do.

  • You will be responsible for the supervision of staff and developing working practice in the home.

    Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (England) or equivalent.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Ofsted.

  • Knowledge and experience of working with children and young people who have learning disabilities, autism and challenging behaviour.

  • Proven ability to have a positive and sensitive approach when working with young people.

  • Demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to the task at hand.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Effective communication skills both verbally and written.

  • Excellent IT skills.

  • Referral programme, This is a role including shift work, so you must be able to work weekends, evenings and sleep ins. (sleep ins paid at £70.00 additional to your salary).


  • £30,750 - £36,300 per annum

  • This is made up of base salary plus 60 contracted sleep-ins per annum (pro-rated to 5 per month).


  • On average employees complete 78 sleep-ins and 310 overtime hours per year. In reality, you may do more or less than the average and this will therefore impact your OTE.
