Full Job Description

We are seeking a Technical Lead to join our Nuclear Operations IT Service team. In this role, you will take the lead on strategic usage of our Power Apps/Platform stack and provide technical direction to deliver solutions aligned with our digital transformation goals. We primarily require individuals with experience in development and support of Power Platform and SharePoint online with the skills to lead and help direct a team of developers. Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub, ALM Accelerator, Python and SQL would also be favourable.

This offers an exciting opportunity for someone to join our team and whilst Nuclear Operations experience is great, anyone with exposure to environments requiring high level security, strict procedural adherence and high-quality standards would be equally well received.

This role will be based at either our Gloucester office or Glasgow office and you will be required to attend site around 2-3 days a week.

Pay, benefits and culture

We can offer a competitive salary between £54,391
- £84,892 and you will be appointed based on the parameters outlined in the Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.

What you will be doing

As our next Tech Lead, you will:

- Help shape the delivery of the Power Platform environment
- Define and help to setup up a communities of practice for Power Apps across the organisation
- Implement Power Apps solutions following best practices for performance, scalability, and extensibility
- Experience of hands on development, data verse, connectors, canvas and model driven apps
- Work closely with business teams to understand requirements and translate into technical solutions
- Monitor system usage, Analyse metrics and troubleshoot issues
- Manage a team backlog and assist in the priorities of the work tracking process
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior developers on code quality and application architecture.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest features and best practices for SharePoint, Power Platform, and Azure
- Participate in technical design discussions and code reviews

Our ideal candidate will have an understanding of nuclear safety, license conditions, security regulation and compliance and how they apply to IT projects, products and services. You will understand the concept and requirements of an "Intelligent Customer" and have knowledge of the key business application and information management landscape, and an ability to understand how this is employed within Nuclear Operations. A good working knowledge of central and station business operations within Generation would be ideal.

Your experience will include IT/IT Support with a strong technical or process background and demonstrable experience in software development and/or business system support. You will have experience of establishing and maintaining relationships in order to achieve support, understand constraints and work collaboratively to achieve business objectives and experience of employing modern software development methods with a good understanding of DevOps principles. Substantial time working within a nuclear regulated environment with a good understanding of nuclear safety, security and regulatory requirements is preferred and you will be capable of leading discussion on design issues, and delivering sound decisions, based upon consensus and the application of standards and best practice.

You will also possess and apply human performance tools and nuclear safety culture principles to enhance safe and reliable operation.

Your skillset will include excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate at different levels across the company. You will possess excellent problem solving skills, able to demonstrate a methodical approach with a focus on standards and attention to detail. You will have team Leadership/Co-Ordination skills, the ability to set to work, monitor and report task/activity progress with mentorship/Coaching skills, ensuring that technical and quality standards are being met and development paths for new Software Engineers/Analysts are suitable.
To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for the last 5 years.
