Temporary Technical Support Officer (Food Safety)

You will provide a varied range of technical support including the receipt and validation of Export Health Certificate applications, information/evidence checks and input on computerised systems. You will carry out verification visits to food businesses exporting fish and fishery products and prepare Export Health Certificates for Food Safety Officers/Environmental Health Officer.

You will also carry out food, shellfish, water and environmental sampling duties, dealing with food and premises complaints as well as assisting in the investigation of food poisoning incidents, food alerts and other emergencies. You will research and draft written information to support the work of the team and will assist in the data management of Private Water.

Educated to A level standard with level 3 in Food safety or be working towards this, and willing to complete a certifying support officer qualification. You will have significant experience of working in a busy office environment with a working knowledge of computer systems and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines while maintaining high levels of accuracy. You will have excellent communication skills at all levels with experience of enforcement within Local Government. You must have a full driving licence with access to a car to travel around the Borough.
